George, historiador residente del museo, guiará a los asistentes a través de una esclarecedora descripción histórica desde los días de los primeros colonos hasta los esfuerzos de conservación contemporáneos.
Esta sesión se centra en el entorno único del sur de Florida y explora cómo los pueblos indígenas y los primeros colonos se adaptaron a la exuberante naturaleza tropical. Los participantes aprenderán sobre los diversos ecosistemas, desde las aguas de la Bahía de Biscayne hasta las costas bordeadas de manglares. El Dr. George estará acompañado por un representante de Miami Waterkeeper, una organización dedicada a proteger las vías fluviales de la región a través de la promoción basada en la ciencia y la participación comunitaria.
