Este 16 de junio, profundice en la historia y el legado de la liberación junto con una serie de activaciones culturales en el evento Uhuru: Liberación a través de la educación y la creatividad cultural de la Universidad Barry. Celebrada el miércoles, 19 de junio de 16:00 h a 19:00 h , este evento de colaboración entre Barry University y South Florida People of Color ofrece una oportunidad única para el enriquecimiento educativo y la inmersión cultural.
El programa comienza con una exploración histórica dirigida por la Dra. Tameka Hobbs. El Dr. Hobbs arrojará luz sobre la narrativa de Juneteenth, examinando su conexión con la Proclamación de Emancipación, la Guerra Civil, el Día de la Emancipación de Florida, 4 de julio ª y 13ª enmienda. Esta sesión tiene como objetivo despertar el pensamiento crítico y fomentar una comprensión más profunda de este momento crucial en la historia estadounidense.
Después de la exploración histórica, los asistentes pueden participar en actividades artísticas interactivas, comer comida para el alma y ver actuaciones en vivo. El cartel incluye una banda de tambores de acero, un espectáculo de danza y la poesía del artista y embajador cultural haitiano-estadounidense Mecca, también conocido como Grimo.
